Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho invited to meet fans over criticism of atmosphere
Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho has made some recent comments about the fans and the supporters trust have responded. Charlotte Duncker MEN 1 Nov 2017 Manchester United Supporters Trust has invited Jose Mourinho to 'discuss his concerns' over the Old Trafford atmosphere. Mourinho has made a number of comments about the Reds' support in the past week which started with him criticising them for not giving enough backing to Romelu Lukaku. He stated was unfair that fans 'don't support him so much' and that they should view him as 'untouchable' after a section of fans booed when Marcus Rashford was subbed. The United boss didn't let the issue go and the situation was fuelled in his programme notes ahead of the win against Benfica when he said he hoped they 'enjoy the game more than some of you did against Tottenham'. Mourinho's remarks have angered some and MUST have invited him to chat to them over the issue. "There are differing views amongst supporters on precisely how to interpret the manager's comments," MUST said in a statement to Press Association Sport. "However it's probably fair to say there is a universal desire within the stadium to see atmosphere improved just as there is at other Premier League clubs. "There are a number of factors that have contributed to atmosphere decline over the decades, some of which could be addressed with better co-operation between clubs and supporters. "MUST would certainly appreciate the opportunity to engage with the manager, as part of our existing dialogue with other club officials, on issues around atmosphere and would be more than happy to meet to discuss his concerns." United are not back in action at Old Trafford until November 18 when they host Newcastle in the league. http://www.manchestereveningnews.co....-fans-13844357
